Michael Münz

Michael Münz is Assistant of the Gustav Stresemann Institute’s Director. The GSI’s European Conference & Training Centre in Bonn is an independent, non-profit institution for political education above party lines. As an institution for political education, the GSI organises conferences, symposia, congresses, workshops and seminars on all relevant political issues. The key focus here is on European policy and security policy, as well as on international collaboration. Specifically European themes are at the heart of the GSI’s work. As the Director’s Assistant Michael Münz cultivates the GSI’s network of contacts, adding new partners and developing new projects such as publications, discussion panels and conferences. The trained teacher and journalist is also involved in Company Development projects. Previously, he worked for Deutsche Welle, Germany’s international broadcaster. He joined DW as Internal Communications Manager and later joined the Director General’s office. Münz then coordinated DW’s cooperations with strategic partners before working as Deputy Head of the Social Media News Department. Michael Münz has a Master of Education from Osnabrück University and has worked as Assistant Teacher in London. He published a book on Social Media in 2010, runs several blogs and has worked as freelancer for newspapers and magazines. Münz is also co-founder and organizer of the Socialbar Bonn, a regular event to discuss the possibilities of social media for the civil society. Running in its eighth year, participants come from NPOs, Activists, Politicians, Social Entrepreneurs and Volunteers.
