In a world of fast fashion and throw-away culture, we invite you to explore make-a-thek. A new space and concept that offers an international platform for the circular movement: By partnering with libraries across Europe and beyond, we create spaces for innovation, learning, and sharing, promoting a more circular, local economy. A make-a-thek connects existing efforts to foster creativity, craftship, and community and strengthens public libraries as community hubs.

As part of the re:publica Makerspace, we invite you to explore Circular Fashion and

  • shape the future of our libraries and share their interactivity within creative spaces, circular economy and more through an interactive string cartography co-creation activity and
  • explore the Open Source textile recycling methods created by Studio HILO and House of All. They collaborate to create the Ministry of Matter Flying Lab, a mobile recycling platform that addresses textile waste by bringing on-site solutions for collecting, sorting, and transforming discarded materials into valuable products. Equipped with open-source machines, it empowers communities and consumers to create building materials and accessories through hands-on experimentation.

The make-a-thek project has received funding from the European Horizon Europe programme under grant agreement No. 101177660.
