Is the pen and paper ballot version of democracy future-proof? With E-Voting, the core element of democracy can be digitalized. Only with digitalization is it possible to decentralize elections. Digitalization will, eventually, reduce the costs of running an election with both the organizational costs as well as the distribution of ballot papers. But why have some countries adopted E-voting? What have countries like Estonia done differently which already voted online in the past? How can the core principles of democratic elections be preserved and manipulation kept at bay? We will discuss these topics with Prit Vinkel, the head of the Electoral Office in Estonia, Dr. Tomasz Truderung, an encryption specialist and researcher at Polyas and Stephanie Planté, a political scientist from Canada.
