LibreWater: Open Source Solar Water Desalination

An open-source hardware collective has developped this prototype on solar desalination.

A small-scale solution to bring clean water to remote locations around the globe.

A solar desalination system able to be built by the end users in makerspaces anywhere in the world. 

The prototype was improved through a collaboration born in re:publica 24 and now it's been exhibited in re:publica 25.

It is a proof of grassroots research & development. A fruit of "Design Global, Manufacture Local" concept.
