Berlin ist ein internationales Zentrum der Clubkultur: Hier beflügeln sich Clubs, KünstlerInnen und Music-Tech-Start-ups gegenseitig. Aber wie lange noch? Denn die Newcomer der Musikbranche kämpfen mit Start-ups anderer Branchen um verbleibenden Freiraum.
Das Hybrid Music Lab feiert seinen diesjährigen Auftakt im Rahmen der #rp17.
Seit vielen Jahren findet auf der re:publica auch Musik ihren Platz. Neben unserem musikalischen Abendprogramm ziehen wir für euch jedes Jahr relevante Themen im Music-Track an Land. Auf der #rp17 widmen wir diesen Track dem Leitthema "Berlin: Tech City – Music City".
- Music-In this panel, we will explore the disruptive potential of communities for Berlin’s club scene. The panel participants will offer perspectives on specifics of working with, and within, communities.
- Music-How do digital environments shape the way we experience music, and also how we live, produce, and survive as artists? What do we think about infrastructures as they currently exist, are they supportive to our (maybe different) visions of music culture, and what are our ideas for them in the future?
- sub:marine-Aquatocene / The subaquatic quest for serenity investigates the phenomenon of underwater noise pollution created by humankind in the seas and oceans. The sound compositions are a re-mix between the bioacoustics of marine life (shrimps, fish, sea urchins etc.), the aquatic acoustics and the presence of human generated noise in the world’s oceans and seas. The project will be presented as a A-V performance.
- sub:marine-In this workshop with artist Robertina Šebjanič and science hacker Lucy Patterson we will build simple DIY hydrophones for non invasive exploration of underwater worlds – a starting point to rethink our understanding of life in the world’s oceans and the human impact on the marine environment.
- Music-Digital audiences are not defined by geography, they are not constrained by passport controls, by currency borders, by FM signal coverage, they roam free in massive amorphous herds, defined by shifting culture, genre, and demographic allegiances.
Are artists free to follow the great audience herds, to traps them, nurture them, harvest them, and live symbiotically with them; or are sophisticated global trading companies organising and corralling the herds, leaving artists to conform to an industrial model, or starve?
- Music-Sexism and underrepresentation of women in the electronic music scene have been discussed broadly. This talk skips negotiating the severity of these issues by focusing on the development of solutions that we can adopt. We address the questions like: How can we deal with stereotypes about women being bad at making music? How can we raise more awareness? How to change the education system? What political acts are needed? The aim is to formulate ideas that could be developed for a more equal scene.
