Martijn de Waal is a writer and researcher, working as a professor at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. He heads the Civic Interaction Design research group and is also the academic director of the Centre of Expertise Creative Innovation. His work focuses on the experience and design of digital and physical public spaces in a democratic network society. He is a (co-) author of the books The Platform Society, The Hackable City and The City as Interface.
