What does it mean if my session has been assigned to a funding priority, such as the Mercator Foundation’s “reclaim Digital Futures” special? How were the selections made?
Thanks to our partners and collaborations with other festivals, we have the opportunity to secure grants for the implementation of individual program items.
These grants enable us to realize specific thematic focuses of the conference, but do not include financial support for the speakers from the Call for Participation. The funding is used exclusively for the overall organization of the conference and enables, among other things, the provision of infrastructure, venues, and technical equipment.
The selection of sessions and program items falling under the funding priorities is generally made independently as part of our normal curation process by the re:publica program team in collaboration with the track teams.
Once included in our program, we at re:publica then propose sessions that thematically align with the funding priorities to the sponsor. The sponsor only confirms the inclusion in the thematic special but has no influence on the initial selection.
Sessions that are (financially) supported by sponsors and/or partners are clearly marked as such in the program and, where applicable, listed on a separate webpage dedicated to the funding priority.
