Samira Hayat is an Electrical Engineer, who is currently pursuing her PhD in the field of Mobile Systems in Alpen-Adria University, Klagenfurt. Coming from Pakistan, she wishes to challenge the perception surrounding technologies such as drones. She emphasizes on the concept of technology as being a tool, and explores many human-friendly use cases for drone technology. Her main research focus is designing a network of multiple drones that can help locate victims in time-constrained search and rescue scenarios. She has represented the research work carried out at her institute as one of fifteen innovative ideas of 2015 in WIRED Germany, January 2015 Edition, at Ars Electronica Festival from 2014-2016, and in TEDxCERN in November, 2016.
