Shane Patrick McNamee, LLB (TCD), LLM (Edin), is an independent legal researcher and policy analyst within the Irish Civil Service, and rather bad fiddle player in his spare time. Previously, he was as a Research Fellow at the Research Centre for Consumer Law at the University of Bayreuth in Germany. He obtained his LLB in Law and German from Trinity College Dublin, and his LLM in Innovation, Technology and the Law from the University of Edinburgh. His specialisations include intellectual property, IT law, bioethics, medical negligence, and consumer law. He has previously written and spoken on subjects such as data protection, the global village and the end to privacy, hybrid and chimera genetic research, and the tortious and regulatory implications of nanomedicine.
