Peggy Sylopp
Computer Scientist, Project Manager Fraunhofer IDMT

computer scientist, artist, mother of two girls

I love to do arts with technologies and exchange knowledge with other people, especially in intercultural groups with a good gender mixture and using free open source software.

Having a mild hearing loss myself, I brought up the idea of radical visible, self-adaptable and transparent open technology for hearing supports.

This artistical approach poured into the citizen science project "Hear How You Like To Hear (HHYLTH)", which I manage now at Fraunhofer Institut IDMT in Oldenburg.

2016 I designed the assistive technology projects, based on product development in co-design with users:

- "Made for my wheelchair",  with lead users Raul Krauthausen (founder of SOZIALHELDEN) and
- "Costum DIY Limbs",  with Anemarie Hackel

aiming on democratization of technologies and the empowerment of the user.
Realized at Fab Lab Berlin in cooperation with ottobock, the projects got prized by the Photonic Call "Light Cares" of BMBF

Some projects of mine:

2017 "Project free wifi communities in Brasil", artistical research travel with artist Sandra Becker investigating free wifi communities in Brasil

2016 "Re:Fugee:Ca Space for Migration Hacking" at re:publica, with Katharina Dermühl (Kiron) and Daniel Seyde (Re:fugee:Ca founder).

2016 "locations of future", video workshops with pupils, together with my 20 year old daughter Luz Sylopp, Goethe Institut Erbil, Iraqi Kurdistan

2015 "observation space" digital art installation with Raspberry Pi Robots, 3D printing and and twitter feeds in a CRT monitor pyramide, art scholarship at Media Art Lab Mercosul, Goethe Institut Porto Alegre, , Brasil

on behalf of Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung and the "Beauftragte für Migration, Flüchtlinge und Integration" of German government.

* workshops with Raspberry Pi robots and Python
* talks for free internet access as human right with Berlin.
* Since 2010 I teach programming and maths at secondary school and high school.

2011 I wrote a master thesis about arts, education and technologies, with focus on gender aspects for my master of public policy.
2009 I wrote my diploma at computer science about implementation and analysis of reconfigurable objects nets.
