Jan Michael Ihl once boarded a nuclear submarine after the British Royal Navy hadn't properly dealt with its reactor cooling circuit leak in the Mediterranean. After Jan's release from the Gibraltar military jail (it was actually just one night) and convictions like illegal trespassing of the waters of the British Crown were dropped, he studied for many years at several universities. He later earned a Diploma from the Berlin University of the Arts. He has worked in journalism, covering topics including nuclear transports, climate change and the humanitarian crisis in Syria. He trained journalists in Iraq, Kosovo, Russia and Germany in investigation and online research techniques before joining Sourcefabric as a project manager. He grew up in a town close to the German-French border and he loves the multi-lingual and international flair at Sourcefabric.
