Textiles are omnipresent in our daily lives, representing one of the largest material sources in the world and a significant challenge for sustainability. Tons of textile waste are generated yearly in Germany and around the world. In this workshop, we will rethink fabrics from drivers of climate change and pollution to create opportunities beyond fashion, such as in architecture and biomaterial design. Using design thinking and material exploration, we’ll ideate circular business models for textiles: repair and reuse textiles, integrate biomaterials and alternative fibers, and propose circular and open source solutions.

In this workshop, you will:

  • Reflect on the global impact of textiles.
  • Design practical solutions together.
  • Prototype ideas at the re:publica Makerspace after the workshop.
  • Connect community motivated to have a better material ecology.

This is a space for Generation XYZ, empowering participants to become part of a sustainable and circular textile movement. Join us in co-creating solutions that connect sustainability, circularity, and digital innovation!
