Media Summit

At the Media Summit on the second day of re:publica, we will focus on topics related to the moving image. We will take a look behind the scenes and discuss the streaming market, fiction and non-fiction formats, documentaries and content creators.

The Media Summit and the Media Track of re:publica are funded by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and supported by Medienanstalt Berlin-Brandenburg.

Programme

How many streaming providers do we actually still need to subscribe to? For the opening debate of the Media Summit, ARD Chairman Kai Gniffke, Sabine Anger from Paramount+ and Henrik Pabst (Chief Content Officer of Seven. One Entertainment Group) will discuss the issue: Who has the best plattform, the most exciting content, who can afford the most expensive productions - and ultimately has the most successful strategy?

A look behind the scenes …and action!

At the Media Summit, we look not only at big high-end productions but also at the small series gems that are hiding in the media libraries and sometimes tackle the big social issues: The sadcom "Mapa" tells about the challenges in the life of a single father. A Thin Line" is about climate activism and cybercrimes - is this the series of the hour?

We will also discuss documentaries between knowledge transfer and entertainment, the shortage of skilled workers and working conditions on film sets, and we will learn how content creators can be successful on YouTube in the long term. And for all the fans of "I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!" (and for all those who have never understood the fascination for these formats) we take a look behind the scenes of reality TV.

“Something with media” – the media track at re:publica 23

On all three days of re:publica, the media track will once again deal with a wide range of topics that move the media industry and us as a society: How are algorithms and artificial intelligence changing journalism? How do we save local journalism? We also look at Twitter after the takeover by Elon Musk and at alternative platforms in the Fediverse. Whether climate journalism, disinformation, the reforms in public broadcasting or the teaching of news literacy in schools - there is a lot to discuss.

Media Parcours: Immerse yourself in VR experiences

You need a break and want to immerse yourself in another world away from the festival hustle and bustle? The Arena Club will be transformed into an immersive "Media Parcours" for #rp23. In the maze of rooms, you can experience VR applications and try out games. Keep your eyes wide open: You'll find XR experiences and interactive art installations all over the festival grounds.
