- Arts & Culture-This session will explore the the psychedelic experience from two different perspectives.
Ciara Sherlock, psychedelic experience facilitator and founder of the Psychedelic Society of Ireland will show how digital communication is facilitating the third wave of the psychedelic age that is now unfolding.
Dr Bryan Duggan VR experience facilitator and computer science lecture in DIT will explore the psychedelic experience from the perspective of Timothy Leary, Terence McKenna, Alan Watts, Psychedelic Science and others and he will show how how aspects of the psychedelic experience can be conveyed through immersive virtual reality.
- Arts & Culture-In this session award-winning film director Ng’endo Mukii will talk about her virtual reality film ‘Nairobi Berries’ and give us an insight into the filmmaking/VR scene in Africa. The session will be introduced by the European Film Market of the Berlinale, which hosts a platform for collaboration between the African and the international film industry.
- sub:marine-At re:publica 2017, the Willy Wonka of Design and Science, Critical explorer and fearless and passionate provocateur, Wired Innovation Fellow, designer Nelly Ben Hayoun will create a space for thoughts, debate and provocation around the sociological and critical impact of new technologies. She will define her design work and practice as a Designer of Experiences and demonstrate how the Human Condition can prevail over technology. She will pledge for Greek Tragedy and remind the audience that innovation often comes from ‘multidisciplinary conflicts’.
- Arts & Culture-There is a growing movement of people from all walks of life having psychedelic experiences for the purposes of consciousness expansion, creativity, personal growth and therapy. In this talk, Dr Bryan Duggan will explore the psychedelic experience from the perspective of Timothy Leary, Terrance McKenna, Alan Watts, Psychedelic Science and others. Further, he will show how how aspects of the psychedelic experience can be conveyed through immersive virtual reality by providing beautiful, psychedelic inspired, consciousness expanding experiences to the player.
