Hi, I am Valerie and I enjoy making people lol. In my more serious life I work as Sr. Full-Stack Engineer for WeTransfer.

As technology is in everyone’s life, everybody should be represented in the industry that shapes it. I want to contribute to this cause by making the tech industry more inviting for newbies with a non-technical background, so I started building fun rollercoasters that let people slide into coding.

Since 2018 I am running ↗ Cafe Robot, the first non-awkward Computer Club. At Cafe Robot I create light-hearted and delicious learning experiences for everyone who wants to get an introduction to web technology and coding. All my courses are somehow food-related, which is why I call myself a “Snacksplainer”.

So far I taught over 400 students how to get started with JavaScript, ran my workshops at Hyper Island and the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) and launched my first, tasty remote class called “Code Cuisine”. I also built ↗ Female Freelance Developers, which aims to bring more cool ladies into cool projects by cool companies.
