Bénédicte Van Ormelingen is working as team leader at the European Commission, in the Directorate-General for Justice and Consumers. She is currently in charge of the work on Digital Fairness in the Consumer Directorate. Prior to her current position, she worked on other consumer-related files in the Consumer Directorate and in the Commissioner’s cabinet. She also served as member in cabinet offices at Belgian federal level, as compliance officer with the International Finance Corporation (World Bank Group) and as a lawyer at the US law firm Cleary Gottlieb. She has degrees in Laws from the Universities of UC Berkeley in the United States (LL.M degree) and of UCLouvain in Belgium (Bachelor and Master degrees).
