Silke Schmidt (*1970) has worked in different international contexts. For several years now she has worked in the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs to support start-ups and other companies to establish business relations to partners in the USA and Canada. Dealing with different industry sectors including aerospace, being curious about future developments and remembering being a lawyer, she started -quasi as a hobby -exploring the essentials of space law.
Silke studied law in Passau, Cardiff and Munich and completed her legal clerkship in Bavaria, Lugano and Toronto. After having worked in the Bavarian Environmental Ministry in the fields of legislation pertaining to water, chemicals and emission controls, she worked in the European Commission as a Seconded National Expert for four years developing and negotiating the REACH and the GHS Regulation. She also gained experience in an international company and participated in a project by the GIZ in China on chemical legislation.
