While platforms were once considered neutral advertising media, they are now striving for political influence. Meanwhile, Europe has been struggling with regulation for almost ten years and is always a few years behind. At #rp25, lawyers Chan-jo Jun and Jessica Flint will explain why the fourth power is no longer the press but platforms. They also ask what we can do about it.

Chan-jo Jun has been fighting hate crime on the internet for years. He gained public attention in 2016 when he initiated investigations against Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and other executives for aiding and abetting incitement to hatred. It was the first time that Facebook was brought to court in Germany. In addition to his work as a lawyer, Chan-jo Jun educates people about so-called "Nonsense law", legal misinformation that is spread mostly in conspiracy theory circles.

Jessica Flint studied law in Würzburg, specialising in economics and taxation, and passed her first state examination in law in 2016. She completed her PhD in Würzburg at the Chair of Public Law in German, European and International Tax Law on the topic of ‘Fake News in Election Campaigns’. She also successfully completed her Master of Laws in 2021. Since February 2024, she has been a lawyer at JUN Legal GmbH.
