»Discourse, Data, and Dragons« is a Serious Game for 6-12 players who fight against species extinction, marine pollution and climate catastrophe with their own ideas. Each player has their own personal goals, inclinations, biases, strengths and weaknesses. The course of action must therefore be constantly discussed and renegotiated – and the clock is ticking. This game aims to combine the world of data with the world of discourse and narratives in a role-playing game with hands-on activities. The aim of the game is to sketch a common digital future within planetary boundaries. The tools available in this game are sensor systems, Raspberry Pi computers, pen and paper. The challenge with data is that we can only measure what is measurable and what is worth the effort of measurement. Discourses have the difficulty of finding a common language. We will therefore impose on ourselves to communicate only in machine-readable form. In this way of communication, fundamental differences become clear, and at the same time the participants simulate automated information flow processes. For all those who miss AI, there are special »AI unplugged« activities as mini-games.
