Danny Lämmerhirt

Danny Lämmerhirt is a social scientist who is interested in how data infrastructures can be designed to address public problems. Currently, he is a research associate at TU Dortmund where he conducts a four-year ethnographic study on how digital health apps shape medical expertise, bodily knowledge, and the doctor-patient-relationship in Germany. He is also finishing his Ph.D on altruistic health data governance, analysing how different data sharing initiatives justify the access, circulation, and use of health data in order to create value for the "common good". Danny also works as an independent research consultant and is currently an IRM researcher for the Open Government Partnership. He is a research fellow with Waag Society and a member of the Public Data Lab.
