Jan Schallaböck is a partner at iRights.Law, specializing in data protection and the adjacent areas of information regulation. Although now mainly working as a lawyer, he has been around somewhere in the different communities since the late nineties.
His legal training focussed on European and International Law., though, with stages at the German Federal Foreign Office in the ICT policy department and at the German Embassy in Kazakhstan. But he also had a look into the practice of copyright and open license cases (amongst watching all the other incredible developments). Before finally joining iRights.Law, Jan was with the Data Protection Authority of Schleswig-Holstein (ULD). There he was tasked with working in various research projects alongside European partners from enterprise and academia, which he enjoyed very much. These activities also started his involvement with standardisation, which is an ongoing effort.
