Dr. Manuel Moritz is a senior researcher at the New Production Institute at Helmut Schmidt University in Hamburg. His work focuses on developing new production methods and designing collaborative innovation processes that integrate ecological and social responsibility. A central pillar of his research is the exploration of Fab Labs, Fab City and Open Source Hardware, which enable decentralized, locally rooted production based on open and collaboratively developed digital designs—contributing to a sustainable and democratic production model for the future.

Manuel is a co-initiator of Fab City Hamburg, which in 2019 became the first German city to join the global Fab City network. He serves as a volunteer board member of Fab City Hamburg e.V. and is also the co-founder and managing director of At Stake gGmbH, a non-profit consulting organization that empowers people and communities around the world to participate in value creation through access to knowledge, technology, and infrastructure.
