Laura Waltz

As a performer trained in dance, acting, and puppetry, I work across disciplines. My focus lies in the interplay between using my body as an instrument and animating external materials -both analog and digital. Within this dynamic, my artistic research explores the relationship between human movement and digital media, as well as the use of the dancing body for digital embodiment. I am particularly interested in combining these different modes of expression, allowing them to enter into dialogue on stage and influence one another. My creative approach questions dramaturgical choices and examines the impact of movement and materials as living, expressive elements.

This multidisciplinary work has brought me into collaboration with institutions such as DOCKDigital, Sophiensaele, Theater Thikwa, Akademie für Theater und Digitalität etc. Beside my digital affinity, I am actively engaged in inclusive (companies) and feminist projects. For example, the inclusive danceproduction "Herzen. ZWISCHEN. Vulkanen" by Karina Suárez Bosche (Premiere in TAK in the frame of the "Special Olympics Berlin 2023”), received the 3rd prize “Berlin Prevention Award 2023” from Berlin State Commission against Violence and the Berlin Senate.
