The business with our data with Ingo Dachwitz
“Show me where you’ve been, and I’ll find out who you are.” In this episode of the re:publicast Special, Markus Beckedahl talks to Ingo Dachwitz from netzpolitik.org about the “Data Broker Files” – a joint investigation with BR and international journalists into the unregulated trade with user data.
Dachwitz explains how easy it is to access these datasets, why practically every ad-supported app is part of the problem, and why the use of location data has become more than just a data protection issue: under the term ADINT, police, the military and intelligence services worldwide also use advertising data for surveillance – even to the extent of identifying journalists, soldiers or members of the Bundestag.
