This project aims to create a comprehensive archive capturing the far-reaching impacts of the 2023 Hatay earthquake, using cutting-edge AI and VR technologies. By transforming Hatay's cultural landmarks into striking 3D visuals with before-and-after comparisons, and incorporating insights from interviews with local artisans, the project offers a unique, multidisciplinary exploration of the region's vulnerabilities and heritage. In response to the increasingly severe impacts of the current climate crisis, it is evident that cultural heritages face heightened risks. My objective is to highlight the significance of visual anthropology in addressing these risks, and to outline accessible strategies for preserving these vital cultural assets in the face of environmental challenges. I would like to discuss how new technologies can aid in preserving cultural heritage and explore ways to integrate these technologies with storytelling.
