Info
A hands-on exhibition to explore and try open innovations for improving community life in a world under climate stress. Don’t get anxious, get involved, in monitoring and communicating environmental issues, learning from the Global Majority and friends.

Many communities of the Global Majority are at the front-lines of climate change and environmental pollution. Digital tools can help identify and denounce illegal logging or unhealthy industrial impacts, to better understand micro-climates or to counter desertification. But off-the-shelf-commercial devices are often too expensive and not easily adaptable for off-grid realities and remote areas. This is why communities have started to work on their own solutions: low tech, open source and easily replicable.

At our hands-on-table, innovators from community-centered projects in Brazil, Colombia, Indonesia, Kenya, Nigeria and Germany will explain and make their work accessible for practical implementation. Find out how to gather and share data without stable Internet and electricity. Learn how communities can become watchdogs of environmental pollution and deforestation. Experience how irrigation and water management can be automated by local community members. And, if you are working on an open innovation or want to share ideas for co-creation, we will show you how to join the online community of practice group on sensor technologies.
