Info
Data, data, data! Data is being collected everywhere—and now we’re doing it too. But we’re taking it a step further: we visualize it using colorful sticky dots on a 3 x 2 meter infographic made of cardboard. It’s not about the results, but about the playful exchange around data as a material.

»Required Fields« handgemalter Titel einer analogen Infografik von Chris Campe

Data, data, data! Data is being collected everywhere—and now we’re doing it too. But we’re going analog: visualizing it with colorful sticky dots on a 3 x 2 meter infographic made of cardboard.

During the conference, we’ll be standing by the installation dressed as data scientists in lab coats, approaching participants, handing out sticky dots, and inviting them to visually position themselves on our cardboard questionnaire.

This will lead to some complications: participants are free to give false information, take part multiple times, and debate with us about the questions—whether gender really is a spectrum, or why their favorite social platform is missing. And we’re secretly hoping someone asks, “Why are you doing this?” so we can answer, “For fun, of course!”

“Required Fields*” isn’t really about data or visualization—it’s about playful exchange and the conversations sparked by conducting analog data collection at a conference dedicated to the digital society.
