C S Akhil is the research lead at Centre for Indian Migrant Studies (CIMS), an organisation that stands for protecting migrant rights over the past 20 years. He writes and researches on international labour migration, migration governance, decentralisation, political economy of migration and rights of migrant workers since 2012. He is also pursuing PhD at Centre for Development Studies, Kerala, India. He also works as a research consultant with Migrant Forum in Asia (MFA). He associates with various organisations such as ILO and IOM as a research and policy consultant. By accepting one of the policy suggestions from one of his research papers, the Kerala government, a subnational government in India has created an assembly (Loka Kerala Sabha) for the inclusive participation of migrants in policymaking. Most recently, he is involved in the campaign on Global Compact for Migration through various consultations in India. Akhil was also a nominated speaker in the Global Forum for Migration and Development (GFMD) 2020.
