Can Tanyol is a film director whose work deals with social cohesion in Europe and the structures of European immigration societies. His stories are inspired by the different cultures he grew up with in Hamburg. Can's graduation film "Verrücktes Blut" was produced in collaboration with ARD (Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg) and won the jury prize for best short film at the prestigious Hofer Filmtage 2023. His short films have been shown at international festivals such as Camerimage, Hofer Filmtage, Filmfest München, Interfilm Berlin and Regensburger Kurzfilmwoche. In addition to his work as a director, Can also gives lectures on the topic of diversity in film, for example as part of Interfilm Berlin with the topic "(In)visibility of BIPOC perspectives at film festivals" and as a guest of Minister of State Claudia Roth at the parliamentary Berlinale reception 2024 in the Bundestag on the topic "Moving times: The future of German film". Can speaks fluent German, Turkish and English and has a good knowledge of French.
He is currently developing his first feature film and is working on a series for German television.
