Basma Mostafa is an Egyptian investigative journalist and human rights defender living in exile in Berlin. She documents state violence and human rights violations, advocating for freedom of expression across borders. In exile, she co-founded the Law and Democracy Support Foundation e.V., which supports exiled civil society actors and protects human rights defenders at risk.

Her work connects local struggles with international advocacy, with a strong focus on defending freedom of expression and artistic freedom in Egypt and the broader Middle East. She empowers diaspora communities and promotes transnational solidarity in the fight for justice.

Basma has been arrested three times in Egypt for her investigative reporting on state abuses. Her journalism has received both national and international recognition for its courage and impact.
