Roland Satterwhite

Roland Satterwhite is an American Violinist/Violist and Singer living in Berlin. As a singer and

violist, he performs with his Berlin based trio Tolyqyn. Roland has developed his own way of

plucking the viola that is inspired by Delta Blues and west African Kora and Griot music

traditions, and writes lyrics covering subjects from political upheaval to love songs for animals.

As a violinist, Roland loves all sorts of improvisation, and has toured internationally and

collaborated with musicians as diverse as Moka Efti, Albita, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Pedrito Martinez,

Pupy y los que Son Son, Marta Gomez, Agujetas Chico, Jorge Pardo, Marta Topferova, Django

Lassi, Fanfara Kalashnikov and more.
