By 2100, a child born in 2020 could live in a world more than 4°C warmer — unless we radically rethink how we produce, consume, and live. Overconsumption, resource extraction, and short product lifecycles are pushing the planet beyond its limits. Berlin is no exception: construction waste, unsustainable lifestyles, and rising material use reflect a deeply linear system.
The circular economy offers a way forward — by designing out waste, keeping materials in use, and regenerating ecosystems. But systems change needs people — and a shared vision across generations.
This lightning talk highlights how Generations X, Y, and Z can shape a circular city together through awareness, lifelong learning, and civic action. At Circular Berlin, we’ve built a diverse community of over 150 members in just 5 years — activists, professionals, students, and citizens united by one goal: shaping a livable and just circular future for Berlin.
