Cancelled: Open Hardware in Africa

Frank Landon Bentum

Open science is becoming a popular concept in Africa, unfortunately, open hardware isn't. We will try to understand the challenges of open hardware in Africa, the best practices for open hardware, and how best we can push for open hardware practices and principles in Africa.

During this session, we will talk about open hardware in Africa, and how communities like africaosh and gosh are contributing to making open hardware practices and principles ubiquitous in Africa.

We will discuss the challenges faced by open hardware and open hardware makers in Africa, the actors who need to be involved if we want to institutionalize open hardware practices and principles in Africa, and the best practices to promote open hardware in Africa.
