Leyla is a postdoctoral researcher at the »Digital Participation and Inclusion Lab« of the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam. In her research, she uses participatory methods and co-creation to develop post-digital experiential safe spaces together with users. For her research on the digital information behavior of unaccompanied minor refugees, she was awarded the »Gerhard Lustig Award« in 2021. She has contributed to various research projects at the intersection of human experience, technology use, and digital well-being, with a particular focus on vulnerable populations and their needs. She is currently part of the BMFTR-funded research group »PeKi_digital — Children's Perspectives on Digital Media. Designing and Evaluating Post-Digital Educational Spaces with Children« (University of Applied Sciences Potsdam). In the past she was part in the »DESIVE² — Science Disinformation in Health Contexts« research group (Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, BMBF), the »DISA — Digital Inclusion in the Context of Social Anxieties« research group (University of Applied Sciences Potsdam, BMBF), the »Human-Computer Interaction Lab« (Hasso Plattner Institute), and the »Center for Open Digital Innovation and Participation« (Technische Universität Dresden).
