re:publica 24 is officially recognised as educational leave in several federal states! For your professional training, we offer you exciting keynotes, panels, workshops and knowledge transfer on current social challenges of our time over the three days of the conference.

Who can apply for educational leave?

If you come from Berlin, Hamburg, Rhineland-Palatinate or Saarland, you can apply to your employer for participation as educational leave. The notice of recognition for this can be downloaded below.

Application information by the individual federal states can be found here:

Unfortunately, we are not (yet) recognised in the following federal states as educational leave: Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Bremen, Hesse, Lower Saxony, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, North Rhine-Westphalia, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Schleswig-Holstein. However, this does not mean that your educational leave is not possible. Just ask at your workplace; there are often specific internal regulations on this.

Although the exact wording is "educational event for vocational and political training", in general all employees (such as trainees, workers, employees, interns, work-at-home employees) are entitled. Ideally, the application should be submitted four to eight weeks before the event. The exact regulations are a matter of the federal states and therefore depend on their respective legislation. Find more info on bildungsurlaub.de.

Are you supporting us as a volunteer? In principle, it is not possible to have periods of work recognised as "Bildungurlaub/-zeit" (educational leave). However, the experience of some former volunteers shows that some employers are willing to agree on this because of the educational nature of re:publica – so it's best to ask your employer directly.
