Mahtab Sabetara, a Berlin-based activist and musician, is the daughter of Homayoun Sabetara, who has been accused of smuggling while on his migration route and has been incarcerated in Greece for nearly three years. Mahtab is actively involved in the FreeHomayoun campaign, which advocates for her father's acquittal along with over 2000 other migrants facing similar charges in Greek prisons. They assert that migration is not a crime and calls for an end to the criminalization of migration. Homayoun has been sentenced to 18 years in prison, and his appeal trial is scheduled for April 22, 2024.
