Caring for the fish

Hands On

Ecosystems are essential to society, offering a range of benefits, including climate regulation, treating toxic waste and providing food, medicine and jobs. However, most ecosystems around the world are facing significant challenges. The loss and degradation of habitats around the world affect biodiversity, threatening ecosystem services and decreasing the resilience of these environments in the face of global and local impacts. However, there is a challenge in thinking about how we will address these issues in society. Here, I propose a workshop to provide the public with knowledge about the basic structure of the ecosystem, analyzing the distribution, abundance and richness of species through a case study. By the end, participants will have an idea of the structure of an ecosystem and its biodiversity. This workshop is an alternative to promote the conservation of ecosystems, showcasing a tool developed by the Tropical Atlantic Interdisciplinary Laboratory on Physical, Biochemical, Ecological and Human Dynamics - TAPIOCA.
