Zusammenfassung
We are bringing our established event series „BASECAMP Nachgefragt!“ from Berlin Mitte to re:publica and want to ask: Why is the mobility transition in Germany taking so long to implement even though it is one of the biggest transformations of our time?

Anyone who frequently travels by train in Germany has experienced this: Uninterrupted high-speed mobile surfing is not yet possible on all sections of the route. Excellent data and mobile phone connections should make switching to environmentally friendly train transportation even more attractive.

But we need first-class digital connectivity in trains not only for entertainment and mobile working during the ride – we need it also for the future of mobility technologies. The mobility transition is one of the biggest transformations of our time. CO2 emissions, the effects of climate change and the scarcity of resources are important reasons why the mobility of the future must be sustainable, efficient, and safe. The way to get there is primarily through data, digitalization and networking – in short: Mobility 4.0. But this can only succeed if politics, business and civil society act together, if we work together to create a sustainable, resilient and future-oriented digital transformation and if digital connectivity and transport infrastructure are considered together.
