Josefa Francke

Josefa Francke is a research associate at the Leibniz Institute for Media Research | Hans-Bredow-Institut (HBI) as well as the Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society, Berlin. Currently, she is working on the project "Platform://Democracy - Global Best Practice Models for the Democratic Design of Hybrid Online Orders" which is investigating ways of aligning private online platform policy with public values and civil society.

Other than that, her research focus lies in innovative and participatory democracy models, collective decision-making, sustainable institution-building and community empowerment. She has a legal and human rights background.
